Rick Turpin, MA
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, AMFT158452
I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. I approach therapy from a relational, systemic, and narrative lens that honors each person’s unique story and cultural context. While I am passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ clients to unpack internalized messages, reclaim self-worth, and author new narratives rooted in authenticity and pride, I believe everyone deserves a space where they can show up as their full, authentic self, without judgment or pressure to fit a mold. Together, we work to develop emotional insight, relational awareness, and coping tools that support growth, resilience, and connection. My goal is to help unlock the client’s inner resilience, facilitate the development of insight into themselves, and develop tools for managing stress, anxiety, and self-doubt. I aim to help clients explore who they are, understand their emotions, and gain the ability to manage life’s transitions with pride.
My Approach & Values
My approach integrates the Relational Satir Growth Model, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) within an LGBTQIA+ affirmative framework. I view growth as a collaborative process that honors each client’s strengths, lived experiences, and identities. Through this integrative lens, I help clients explore how family systems, cultural messages, and personal narratives shape their sense of self, while supporting the development of practical tools for emotional regulation, communication, and resilience. My values as a therapist center on authenticity, compassion, curiosity, and the belief that every person has the capacity to transform and live with pride and connection.
