Maddie Cooper, MA
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFT158591
Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, APCC20820
I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. My work is grounded in the belief that who we are and how we experience the world is shaped by the relationships, environments, and cultural contexts we live within. I’m passionate about supporting teens and young adults as they navigate identity, relationships, and major life transitions. I believe that growth and healing happen through connection, both with ourselves and the people around us. I see therapy as a collaborative process where we explore how internal and external experiences influence how individuals move through the world. By increasing awareness of these patterns, individuals can open the door to meaningful change while strengthening relationships, deepening self-understanding, and navigating challenges with confidence and compassion.
Therapy is a space to slow down and make sense of your experiences, how they’ve shaped the way individuals understand themselves, and connect with others. Together, we can explore the patterns and dynamics that may be contributing to current distress and create new ways of relating that feel more authentic and fulfilling. My goal is to support you in building awareness, developing emotional balance, and forming meaningful connections that align with your values and sense of self.
My Approach & Values
I approach therapy with the understanding that our lives and emotions are deeply shaped by our relationships, environments, and experiences. The patterns we develop often emerge as ways to cope, connect, and protect ourselves. In our work together, we’ll explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, creating space for new ways of relating to yourself and others. My practice integrates trauma sensitive, person-centered, evidence-based modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Satir Growth Model, and Narrative Therapy. I believe authentic connection, collaboration, and the courage to engage with what feels difficult or unfamiliar holds importance in the therapeutic journey. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can develop greater self-awareness and emotional resilience. Whether working individually, with families, or in groups, my goal is to help clients identify their values and desired outcomes through the development of coping strategies, creating meaningful connections, and increasing their sense of empowerment within life.
